ABOUT THE COURSE

When the first revelation from Allah Almighty was given to Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), the development of the numerous Qiraʼat started, and these revelations proceeded throughout a 23-year period. The Quran was personally taught to Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) by the Angel Gabriel AS, who also passed along this knowledge to his companions.

The Quran was revealed in Arabic to the tribe of Quraysh, but at the time the Muslim community was made up of various tribes with various dialects, making it difficult for them to read the Quran. Prophet Muhammad Angel Gabriel AS therefore asked him to teach various Qirat so that reading and comprehending the Quran would become simple for them.

“Gabriel recited the Qur’an to me in one way. Then I asked him to read it in another way and continued to ask him to recite it in other ways, and he recited it in several ways until finally, he recited it in seven different ways.” (Sahih al-Bukhari 4991)

We shall gain in-depth information on the history of how the Quran’s Qirat has changed throughout this course.

WHY TAKING This COURSE

10 Qirats are based on variations in letter and harkat pronunciations seen throughout the Quran. Although the style is different, the text’s importance is still the same.

The Ten Qirat Quran developed during the lifetime of our Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) from many languages and schools of thought. The Prophet heard several types of Qirat and approved of them. The angel Hazrat Jibraeel (A.S.) instructed him in seven distinct recitation techniques at the behest of Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH).
